With Version 4.6.0.0, we released many new enhancements to the SEL-5051/5052 Client/Server Network Management System (NMS) Software.

The ICON is receiving a new submodule that provides an interface for channelized, synchronous E1 traffic transported by SDH-based WANs and E1 channel banks.

ICON supports Ethernet Layer 2 802.1Q bridge and allows the transmission of non-critical Ethernet services in the same channel as VSN.

The SEL-5051 Client and SEL-5052 Server Software are receiving many enhancements requested by users.

A newly released 24/48 Vdc power module option (8010-13) for the ICON 8-inch DIN-rail “cube” chassis allows deployment in applications that require the unit to be connected to a battery bank.

The E1 Async Submodule (8057-14) provides support for the E1 telecom interface for applications outside of the United States and Canada. The E1 Async Submodule supports four E1 2.048 Mbps interfaces that can be individually mapped to other E1 ports on E1 Async Submodules located at other SEL ICON sites.

SEL recently released Version 4.4.0.1 of the SEL-5051/5052 Client/Server Network Management System (NMS) Software. The latest release provides some significant enhancements, many of which were in response to User Group requests.

Firmware R104 for the FXS submodule resolves issues with On-/Off-Hook indication, DS1 hot-standby operation, and physical port disabling from software. As an additional cybersecurity enhancement, R104 update disables the onboard serial port.

SEL recently released version 4.3.0.0 of the SEL-5051/5052 Client/Server Network Management System (NMS) Software. The latest release provides some significant enhancements, many of which were implemented in response to customer requests.

SEL University will be offering training courses for the SEL ICON in spring and fall 2023.

SEL has released firmware upgrades for the Nx64F, Async Data, and Async-CB submodules. This fixes an issue that can cause the submodule circuit not to fail over correctly when a PLM or EPLM is rebooted or removed. We recommend upgrading as soon as possible, and before performing any updates to the PLM or EPLM on your network.

New firmware has been released that addresses recently identified issues with the SEL ICON’s time synchronization subsystem. These issues have the potential to impact the stability of the network under certain timing reference conditions. The new firmware also provides enhancements that improve the resiliency of the network during time interruption events.

SEL has released a full set of DS1 Async and DS1 Sync submodules, functionally equivalent to and hot-swappable with installed counterparts. These alternatives will help address a supply chain issue with an FPGA part used in ICON submodules.

The latest versions of DS1 Sync and Server Module firmware introduced two new features. Users can define the severity of Loss of Signal alarms as Minor or Major, depending on whether the port is a line or access port. Interoperability with third-party voice modules has been improved with Robbed Bit Signaling.

SEL has released several new enhancements for the SEL ICON platform and SEL-5051 Client and SEL-5052 Server Network Management System (NMS) software. Many of these enhancements were developed in response to User Group requests.

SEL has released a new version of the SEL 5051/5052 Client/Server Network Management System Software and Server Module Firmware R127. These updates address a supply chain issue with a field-programmable gate array device used in various ICON modules.

A new firmware release adds DS1 line timing support for the Enhanced Protected Line Module (EPLM), Firmware R101-V1, and the DS1 Sync Submodule, Firmware R102-V1. This timing support enables the SEL ICON to synchronize to an external DS1 reference or BITS clock.

A new firmware release for the Transfer Trip Module (TTM), Firmware R105, provides an increase in the latency alarm threshold from 2–15 ms to 2–30 ms.
