    SEL-MR

    Manual Reset Fault Indicator

The SEL-MR is a portable manual reset fault indicator and troubleshooting tool for overhead and underground applications up to 38 kV. It is made of a purely magnetic circuit that trips on the magnetic fields generated by the fault current. The SEL-MR is fault-powered and does not require a battery or system load current or voltage to operate.

The SEL-MR is designed to be a portable fault detection tool for line crews to use after an outage occurs to pinpoint fault location when manually reenergizing the circuit.

At the nominal factory-set trip rating, the SEL-MR has a response time of 12 ms. The display has a reflective, highly visible red target (tripped) and white target (reset) to indicate the fault status. The SEL-MR is secured to the line using over-center toggle clamps and can be applied or removed with a hot stick. The hermetically sealed, ultrasonically welded housing and stainless steel, vinyl-coated clamping mechanisms make it suitable for use in submersed and corrosive environments.

A button reset option is available to simplify reset without removing the SEL-MR in underground applications.

Safe and efficient reclosing—After a fault occurs, you can use the SEL-MR to determine the location and confirm the fault clearance before manually reclosing. This avoids costly repetitive refusing and resectionalizing.

Versatile application—The SEL-MR works with overhead covered or bare conductors and underground cables in distribution systems up to 38 kV.

Convenient—The SEL-MR is available in a convenient kit to keep on a truck. The kit includes three SEL-MRs and a Manual Reset Tool in a sturdy, lightweight carrying case.

Apply SEL-MRs after an outage occurs to determine the fault location when manually reenergizing the circuit.
